If you needed a reminder that Aesop Rock’s last album, 2012’s Skelethon, was really great, here you go. This big concept video debuts a new song, “Rings.” The video is captivating and vaguely gruesome, but also great to look at with its stop-motion wood work and ink drawings. The song, which at its base is just about making art and cultivating that, exemplifies what I like best about Aesop Rock: he crams in a massive amount of words and ideas without ever overwhelming or tripping over himself. It’s easy to grok no matter how fast his mind is racing.
