In the ever-abounding market of psychedelia and electronic-inspired projects, the cut of one’s jib is equally as important as to how the live act might run in the festival scene. Err too far on the side of electronica and risk being lumped with a cavalcade of atmospheric time-stealers. Of course, treading too far into the waters of psych-rock earns an automatic comparison (justified or not) to Tame Impala. Undoubtedly a difficult balance to strike without a catalogue to speak of, Boston-based Mind The Journey nonetheless delivers an impressive debut that is both experimental and fascinating.
