When Beach House announced their return this year, they promised a change in sound, perhaps something a little closer to their early pre-Teen Dream albums.
So here we are! It’s got the best of shoegaze with the aura and glow you’ve come to know from Beach House. It’s definitely closer to Devotion, though still it’s own animal. I can hear this as a smaller venue song, something that sounds great bouncing off enclosed spaces.
The new album is Depression Cherry, a reference to a shade of red and not, like, your first time being sad. It’s out August 28 via Sub Pop.
