Gothic folk. Macabre singer-songwriter. Spooky roots. There’s no good label for it, but you know what it sounds like: darkly looming vocals laid bare across circularly tabbed guitars. A sense of impending doom. Hailing form London, Jay Brown has an intriguing voice with a lot of character, and although she does more with it on other songs, it sounds great with echoes and a cello.
