Alternate versions of songs are one of my favorite things. They give small insight into the creative process and help expose different angles to a song. So why not release them at the same time?
Blue Hawaii have given us “Get Happy,” and paired it with the release of “Get Happier,” found here. The latter version is slightly more schizophrenic, with relentless and off-kilter pace, though still sparse and subdued.
I’m giving the medal and spotlight to the “original” version, embedded above, for its more sensible composition and the relaxing din that permeates throughout.
