Iconic slowcore rockers Low are contributing to Dead Man’s Town: A Tribute to Born in the USA. The anthology covers every song on the album and hands them out to the likes of Blitzen Trapper, Justin Townes Earle, Nicole Atkins and more. Some time back, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shire’s rendition of the title track made its way through the net, but I think it’s this Low cover that really reels me in. The original was already a sparsely lit, introverted bit, and that just happens to be Low’s stock-in-trade. There’s the consistent hum of the guitar and the faintest, imperceptible percussion really build a vast and spacious song.
Dead Man’s Town: A Tribute to Born in the USA is out September 16 via Lightning Rod Records.
